London PHV & Taxi Drivers
SERU Revision: PHV & Taxi
Independent revision for the London SERU assessment, for private hire (PHV) and taxi drivers. 590 questions checked against TfL’s published driver handbooks, each answer citing its handbook section, with Find It in the Handbook drills and timed 36-question practice papers. Not made or approved by TfL.
What the app does
Everything below is in the current iPhone and iPad version.
Two routes, one app
London private hire and taxi drivers now sit separate SERU assessments, each based on its own TfL handbook. Pick your route when you first open the app and every question, practice paper and reference card follows it.
Revision
320 PHV questions across eight topics and 270 taxi questions across eleven, each explanation saying why the answer is right and naming the handbook section it comes from. Single-answer and “mark two answers” questions, so you are ready for both styles.
Mock Test
Timed practice papers for your route: 36 questions in about an hour, 60% (22 of 36) to pass, with every answer reviewed at the end. The free version gives a 10-question taster at the same pace.
Quick Reference
Short cards for your route on safeguarding, assistance dogs and wheelchair users, stopping and pick-ups, taxi fares and payment (taxi route) and a glossary. Each fact names its handbook section.
Your Dates
Keep your licence expiry, DBS Update Service renewal, medical, vehicle licence, MOT and SERU assessment dates in one place, with reminders three months and one month before each.
Built for an open-book assessment
Find It in the Handbook
SERU is open book, so knowing where to look matters. These drills describe a situation and ask which handbook section covers it, training the quick lookup the assessment rewards.
Timed practice papers
36-question papers in about an hour, 60% (22 of 36) to pass, drawn from every topic in proportion to the handbook. TfL publishes this format for the taxi assessment; it does not publish the PHV paper’s length or pass mark, so the PHV papers follow the same format.
Separate progress per route
Switch route at any time in Settings. Each route keeps its own progress and history, so a driver revising for both loses nothing — and one purchase covers both routes.
More ways to revise
Flash cards, bookmarks, a retry of the questions you got wrong, voice-over to listen to questions, and progress synced over iCloud between your iPhone and iPad.
Free to start
Each route gives you 10 free questions in each of its first three topics — 30 per route — plus a 10-question taster paper drawn from them and free Quick Reference cards. A monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-off lifetime unlock, opens every question and the full 36-question papers on both routes.
SERU Revision is independent. It is not made, approved or endorsed by Transport for London (TfL), it does not book or replace the SERU assessment, and a good score in the app does not promise a pass. Read TfL’s handbook for your route alongside it.
