Car Drivers
Car Driving Theory Test
The UK car theory test app. Revise all 758 DVSA questions across 15 topics, sit timed 50-question mock tests, practise on 46 hazard perception clips and read the complete Highway Code, with your progress synced over iCloud.
What the app does
Everything below is in the current iPhone and iPad version, which also runs as a native Mac app.
Four ways to get test-ready
The home screen gives you the four things the car theory test asks of you: knowing the rules, answering the questions, spotting hazards and sitting the real thing.
Practice
All 758 DVSA revision questions across 15 topics, each with an explanation. Questions and answers are shuffled every time, feedback is instant, and you can bookmark the ones you keep getting wrong or switch to flash cards for quick recall.
Mock Test
Sit 50 questions against the clock, then review every answer. The real car theory test is 50 questions with a pass mark of 43, and your attempt history and topic-by-topic scores show where to focus before test day.
Hazard Perception
46 clips — 34 computer-generated and 12 filmed on real roads — scored in five windows the way DVSA scores them, so the earlier you respond, the more you score. Tap continuously to try to catch every window and the clip scores zero, exactly as it would on the real test. Then sit a mock hazard perception test and watch your score trend.
Highway Code
The complete Highway Code — 31 sections and 399 rules with 324 official illustrations. Search it, bookmark the rules you want to come back to, and pick up where you left off. It is the source DVSA writes the questions from, so time spent here is rarely wasted.
Built around how you revise
Start with the big four
Road and Traffic Signs is the largest topic at 134 questions, followed by Safety and Your Vehicle (82), Hazard Awareness (78) and Vulnerable Road Users (68). Those four alone make up nearly half the bank.
Taking your test in Northern Ireland?
Questions that are not used in Northern Ireland sit in their own NI Exempt topic, and the mock test never draws from them — so a mock is a fair rehearsal wherever you take the test.
Read aloud
Questions and answers can be read to you in a British English voice at the speed you choose — useful if you revise better by listening.
Progress on every device
Your topic progress, mock test history and Highway Code bookmarks sync over iCloud between your iPhone and iPad.
Free to start
The free version includes 100 questions across Accidents, Alertness, Attitude, Documents and Hazard Awareness, seven hazard perception clips and the opening sections of the Highway Code. A subscription or a one-off lifetime unlock opens everything.
Try free quizzes
15 topics, 130 free questions. No sign-up.
Accidents
What to do at the scene of a road traffic collision — first aid, warning devices, reporting and safety.
Alertness
Staying focused: observation, anticipation, concentration and avoiding distraction and fatigue.
Attitude
Considerate driving, close following, courtesy and how your attitude affects safety.
Documents
Licences, insurance, MOT, vehicle tax and the paperwork you need by law.
Hazard Awareness
Spotting and reacting to developing hazards — children, cyclists, animals, weather and your own condition.
Motorway Rules
Joining and leaving, lane discipline, speed limits, hard shoulders and smart motorway signals.
Other Types of Vehicle
Sharing the road with lorries, buses, trams, tractors and bikes.
Road and Traffic Signs
Sign shapes and colours — orders, warnings, information, direction signs and road markings.
Rules of the Road
Junctions, roundabouts, parking, speed limits and who has priority.
Safety Margins
Stopping distances, braking in rain or ice, and the two-second rule.
Safety and Your Vehicle
Vehicle checks, tyres, lights, fluids, security and the environment.
Vehicle Handling
Driving on hills, in fog, around bends and in bad weather — keeping control.
Vehicle Loading
Roof racks, towing, load distribution and the legal limits.
Vulnerable Road Users
Pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, horse riders and older or disabled road users.
NI Exempt
Questions that are not used in Northern Ireland tests. The app keeps them out of the mock test so a mock is fair wherever you sit the test.
